Where We Work

Adding together our teacher workshops and Somos Bachilleres, we have worked with communities from seven departments in Colombia.

Before we scale up and increase our reach with Somos Bachilleres, we want to establish strong relationships with the communities we work with. At ConEducación we believe in community work. These processes we have with our students will evolve in time and the communities will own them, as our bachilleres become mentors and change agents in their territories.

We Are Building Equity

Our programSomos Bachilleres has tripled the rate of direct admission to higher education for rural areas, compared with the National average.

In Colombia, only 22% of high school students from rural areas will enroll in higher education within a year after graduation. 73% of our bachilleres are currently enrolled in a professional or vocational college program.

More than 10 higher education institutions have received an alumni from Somos Bachilleres. Among these there are: Universidad Nacional de Colombia, UniPamplona, UniMinuto, SENA, Universidad Piloto de Colombia, UNAD and the National Police.

We Continuously Grow

From August 2020 to April 2024, 86 students from rural areas, 44 teachers in workshops and more than 30 volunteers have transformed their lives through education and the community work we do at ConEducación.

Somos Bachilleres has steadily increased its capacity, opening 5 additional slots per year, reaching 30 students for our class of 2024. Per every new additional student, we also increase the number of mentors that support and coach our students on their life and career planning, with personalized attention.

Furthermore, we strengthened our partnership with our students’ schools, and hence, increased the effectiveness of our work.
