Teacher Workshops
The professional development teacher workshops focus on providing a hands-on experience for teachers to explore different online platforms and to implement active learning in their classrooms. These workshops foster a collaborative learning community where all teachers -workshop facilitators and attendees- learn from each other’s resources and experiences. This program was launched in September 2020 and we have worked with 44 teachers mainly from public schools in 14 workshops, as of September 2022. We have partnered with other organizations like Explore Learning, to provide participating teachers free accounts to some resources that require subscription.
Somos Bachilleres
Somos Bachilleres works with students and communities from rural areas in Colombia. This program provides academic preparation for the high school graduation national standardized test, Saber 11. Students’ scores on this test determine access to higher education and financial aid opportunities. Additionally, students receive psychosocial mentoring and college counseling that helps them decide their career pathways after graduating high school, as well as guidance and support in application processes and accessing financial aid for their studies.
Our class of 2021 had 16 students from Imbilí (Tumaco; Nariño), La Calera (Cundinamarca), and Orocué (Casanare). This year we are working with 20 students from Orocué, La Calera, and Titiribí and Mutatá (Antioquia).
